Wet Parties in Ibiza, Spain

Apart from those great beaches Ibiza is famous for its parties and discotheques. If you like your nightlife on the frothy side, then the Foam Parties are not to be missed.

The Water Party ("Fiesta del Aqua") at Es Paradis is wet, wild and wonderfully wicked and takes place on Thursdays and Fridays. Disco buses operate regularly until sunrise which means the famous nightspots of Amnesia, Privilege and Space are all within easy reach. The bus is fairly cheap but entry in to such exclusive all night joints which carry on until around 8am, is around £25/€40 per head. But the word on the street is that it's well worth it! You'll find it in San Antonio,Travesia Dr. Flemming at the harbour.

Amnesia in Ibiza Town is known for "La Espuma" which is Spanish for foam party. The foam can reach as as high as 1.5m (or 5 feet). They have foam parties every wed and sun night. It gets very wet when foam pours out of the foam machine. Don't wear your best clubby clothes on this night, you will get soaked and drenched! It's quite a spectacle!

There's a bus to the club from downtown Ibiza. It's a €40 cover charge but you can find coupons for $10-15 off on street corners. They don't "foam" until around 7:30 am, so if you're not up to partying all night, take a taxi to the club around 5:30 or 6am.

Privileg (earlier "Ku") has the biggest swimming pool of the whole island. For that gigantism of wetlook fun you have to pay with an entrance of about €40. It's halfway between San Antonio and Ibiza town in the small village San Rafael.

Kiss in Ibiza Town holds foamparties on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays. Entrance about €15.

If you've had enough of techno, take a drink at the The Bull Bar right at the beach Playa de'l Bossa, Ibiza town. The prices for drinks are quite reasonable and the music is mixed (tecno-free). At the stroke of midnight on Sunday, the foam machine starts to pour for about half an hour. Different from the big discos, the machine woun't run the night through, but it is enough to soak your clothes over with foam. Then, people will wash out the foam a few steps further - in the open ocean. All this fun at absolutely free of charge.

The night clubs typically do not open until 2 in the morning and you look like a moronic tourist if you show up earlier. You can typically party until 8 in the morning. A few die-hards in our group would then go to the after-hours clubs. Those places don't even open until 8 and go until noon. This is crazy! It is entirely possible to then hit the beach and start all over again.

Once you get into this groove, not a lot of sleeping goes on here.

The music on the island and in the clubs was very hype, hypnotic & sensual. There was a lot of clubby, Euro-trans, electronic music. At the beach bars, they play very sensual, tropical Latin music but with a funky beat and with some trans/electronic mixed in a little.

Boy George is a local DJ spinning trans, techno-house, eletronica music at some of the clubs.

It is a very interesting, exciting, adventurous, and exhausting trip. We recommend going to Spain (Ibiza or whatever your pleasure is) just for the experience and stories to tell your friends & family.
